Hi David, Thanks for the dump. Unfortunately it confirms what I suspected. There are 2 flavors (with respect to register access) of SMSC Super I/O chips out there: paged and flat. The sensors-detect script currently only looks for paged chips and will flag flat chips as unknown. The chip in your nc6230 as well as the ones in the other HP laptops I tested are flat SMSC chips. According to the IRDA project yours is compatible to a 47N227 (at least when it comes to IRDA capabilities). Unfortunately the 47N227 doesn't contain any HW monitoring capabilities, so we're out of luck. Sorry... If you can run Windows on your machine you could try speedfan to check if you get something useful back. ...juerg On 6/6/07, David Corlette <dcorlette at novell.com> wrote: > Here you go... > > > Thanks! > > >>> On Wed, Jun 6, 2007 at 10:54 AM, in message > <191fb4ca0706060954tedb5b53p1b7f86671bb93194 at mail.gmail.com>, "Juerg Haefliger" > <juergh at gmail.com> wrote: > > David, > > > > Can you please run the attached script and post the output? > > > > Thanks > > ...juerg > > > > > > On 5/30/07, David Corlette <dcorlette at novell.com> wrote: > >> Not sure this will work, but: > >> > >> sensors: > >> sensors version 2.10.0 with libsensors version 2.10.0 > >> > >> sensors-detect: > >> (downloaded today, actually) > >> > >> Output: > >> # sensors-detect revision $Revision$ > >> > >> This program will help you determine which kernel modules you need > >> to load to use lm_sensors most effectively.
