Hi David, I think this one is for you. >Could be that the Sys Temp and CPU Temp labels need to be swapped. >Check the order and values in your BIOS (if it prints them.) I am pretty sure the order is ok. The Sys temp comes first in the bios, next the CPU temp. See the 'screenshot' of the hwmon page of the bios (! hope it isn't a problem including an attachment). I also blocked the airflow through the CPU cooler during workload (video encoding) and the CPU temperature went up, whilst the Sys temp remained quite stable. Finally I did some measurements with my fingertips and a temperature sensor. In the case the reported temperatures where different, the 945PL chip was clearly warmer than the CPU. The only strange thing (to me in any case!) is that the absolute values differed quite a lot: lm_sensors temp sensor bios finger CPU 24 C 30 C 37 C warm Sys?(945PL) 38 C 50 C 38 C hot I am pretty sure the bios is wrong here with one of the values (I am not sure how that can be though!). Assuming that the Sys temperature measures the 945PL chip, it was clearly a lot hotter than the CPU. Here is the sensors output again with hardly any workload: sensors w83627dhg-isa-0a00 Adapter: ISA adapter VCore: +1.26 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +1.74 V) in1: +12.25 V (min = +0.84 V, max = +0.21 V) ALARM AVCC: +3.26 V (min = +0.29 V, max = +0.26 V) ALARM 3VCC: +3.26 V (min = +1.97 V, max = +3.23 V) ALARM in4: +1.58 V (min = +1.30 V, max = +1.04 V) ALARM in5: +1.66 V (min = +1.38 V, max = +0.07 V) ALARM in6: +4.97 V (min = +3.79 V, max = +0.84 V) ALARM VSB: +3.26 V (min = +2.05 V, max = +0.00 V) ALARM VBAT: +3.17 V (min = +2.22 V, max = +3.39 V) Case Fan: 0 RPM (min = 3515 RPM, div = 128) ALARM CPU Fan: 685 RPM (min = 664 RPM, div = 8) Aux Fan: 0 RPM (min = 5273 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan4: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM fan5: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 128) ALARM Sys Temp: +38 C (high = +19 C, hyst = +10 C) ALARM CPU Temp: +24.0 C (high = +80.0 C, hyst = +75.0 C) AUX Temp: +121.5 C (high = +80.0 C, hyst = +75.0 C) ALARM Thanks for all your good work.
