Hmm, I read that the ICH8 supports PECI (in the kernel documents for the ehf
driver) however I never read anything about ICH7 supporting it...in either
case I'm not very familiar with it.

OK, so I got the isadumps and the bios version. I made sure the driver
didn't get loaded. I did a diff on the dumps, it does seem that the output
changes, although I'm assuming this could be the voltages/temperatures/etc
which are changing, so I'm not going to make any assumptions just yet.

bios is 7.3b7

infact it seems i'm one version out of date. it doesn't even list 7.3 on their
official bios page here, which is strange...

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=267

and here are the isadumps:

As far as I can tell, voltages/temperatures/etc are all working
correctly. Although I did initially have an issue with 3 temperature
sensors showing up, where as my bios only shows 2. I'm guessing this
motherboard just doesn't use the one, so it was constantly reporting
ridiculous values. I just added an ignore line in my sensors.conf for
that. For reference, here's the output of sensors:
