Understand, even the behaviour of my BACH chip disagrees with some
of what is in that attachment... but it's probably the best source
we have so far.  I'm not surprised if as99127f is different, BUT...

(E.g. w83781d) The register at 0x4e has a field which is "bank select".
This field determines purpose of the registers 0x50 - 0x5f.  So there
are actually 3 registers at 0x5b; the current bank # determines which
of these 3 actually sees the read or write.

Knowing that, you'll want to redo some of your experiments.
