What might be most useful is to create an xfs_metadump image of the problematic
filesystem (with -o if you are ok with showing filenames in the clear) and from
there we can examine things.

A metadump image is metadata only, no file data, and compresses well. This can
then be turned back into a filesystem image for analysis.
