That's wild. What kernel are you using? Have you tried:

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Download/stable

or

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Download

Can you provide the output of 'iw list', your dmesg, and your 'iw dev
wlan0 scan'.
