First, there is the zd1211-devs mailing list;
I believe you can send patches there (and also to the linux-wireless
mailing list).

BTW, there was some work with Ad-Hoc in
zd1211rw recently , by Daniel Drake (Though  I myself did not
made any tests with Ad-Hoc mode with zd1211)
