Device reset is triggered to recover from a corner case firmware bug which caused command timeout. We have simulated device reset during system suspend and observed that system suspend attempt is aborted in this case. No other side effects seen. This scenario is hard to reproduce.

You are right. This patch stops command path in cfg80211's suspend handler which is called at very early stage of system suspend process. So the patch has reduced the possibility of command timeout during system suspend.
