It is recommended to configure mac80211 with either wpa_supplicant or NetworkManager (which in turn uses wpa_supplicant). However, since we're trying to have a reasonable level of compatibility with userspace that use wireless tools directly to connect, some reassociation is probably appropriate to implement. -Michael Wu
