OK this clearly is protocol level work that needs
to involve the virtio TC.

E.g. what you describe sounds like it will work but
won't allow pipelining more than one message in flight.

Support will probably need a feature bit, too.
That needs to be minimally reserved by the TC.


What does and what does not work with this patch?
I see tap support is TODO ...
