Is this reproducible? If you run your test several times, does it
always crash at the same address?

If no, follow your broken-hardware theory. Another possibility could
be an error in DMA handling, which can also lead to more or less
random memory corruption.

If yes, compile your kernel with debug symbols and use addr2line to
find the exact line in the code where the error occurs. Then find
out where that NULL pointer comes from, and fix the bug.
