It's looks ok, but busy, you should work on cleaning a lot of the
"cruft" up to make it a bit more readable (the unneeded comment blocks,
and other left overs from the whiteheat driver (not the best example to
follow.))

I didn't see anything obvious, but I just realized, have you tried this
with any other usb to serial device to see if the same thing happens
there or not?
