Sorry, but I feel that this special handling is kernel bloat. I have lot's
of boards where the FT2232 has dual purpose and as I don't own a FTDI PID,
all distinction is done by the strings I program into the FTDI I2C
EEPROM. When plugging the device, the kernel creates a ttyUSB device, but as
soon as my libusb application grabs the device, libusb detaches the device.

Why a special handling for some special device that can be done in user
space?
