Maybe our HAPS are behaving differently or we're using different
versions of the IP ? It's working like a charm here. I left a mass
storage running over night without any issues.

Ok. I don't have that either.

You can use the master branch without any issues :-) that's what I have
been using. Master is a merge of all my (relevant) topic branches.
