FT232RL adaptor won't initialise on PogoPlug Pro running ArchLinuxARM 2.6.31.6

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to get a FTDI FT232RL based USB adaptor to work on a PogoPlug Pro
running the latest supported ArchLinuxARM distro which is running 2.6.31.6.
This has version 1.5.0 of the ftdi_sio driver.

When I connect the FT2332Rl based device I get the following errors in the
system log:

[ 1313.030000] usb 1-1.4: new full speed USB device using oxnas-ehci and
address 4
[ 1323.140000] usb 1-1.4: unable to read config index 0 descriptor/start:
-110
[ 1323.140000] usb 1-1.4: chopping to 0 config(s)
[ 1333.140000] usb 1-1.4: string descriptor 0 read error: -110
[ 1333.140000] usb 1-1.4: New USB device found, idVendor=0403,
idProduct=6001
[ 1333.140000] usb 1-1.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2,
SerialNumber=3
[ 1333.140000] usb 1-1.4: no configuration chosen from 0 choices

And I don't get any device created under /dev

I can plug-in a FT232BM based device and it all works fine and creates a
device /dev/ttyUSB0

I have tried both adaptors on the latest ArchLinux PC version on a VM and
both initialise and create /dev/ttyUSB* devices fine so I'm pretty sure the
hardware is fine.

Does anyone know of a way I can get this to work on this system without
upgrading etc?

Regards

Alex Shepherd
