Thanks for your reply.

My need is to have 8 serial ports connected to 1 USB.
Each serial port will be connected to a sensor, sending data at 1/16 Hz(max).
So, I am looking for a rather robust USB-to-serial converter which
will be able to manage to receive load of frames.

From my research on the web, the Edgeport 8 seems a good bet.
Do you think so?

Yes, they are all included directly in the kernel source tree and have
been that way for almost a decade now.

It all depends on your needs as to what the "best" one is.  What are you
requirements?
