I guess, you need to insert the module with modprobe xhci_hcd but not
xhci. Do you inerted any PCIe express xHC host controller? Without xHC
host controller, the driver cannot be loaded. I guess, you inserted
one xHC host controller.

Anyhow, Greg has merged eveSarah Sharp xHCI driver into the main
stream kernels. So, you can you use any 2.6.35.x kernels to work with
xHCI Sarah Sharp driver.
