So At least, the de-facto rule changed.  Such
changes can be argued as bug fixes (and most
developers have been in that situation), but
in any case they remain changes. :)

I don't recall seeing a patch submitted which updates
that driver to stop using the low_latency flag.

In fact, the thread Jon referenced included a
request from me to submit such a patch for that
driver ...
