1. I am using the latest Fedora kernel (2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64) which I
believe includes an unmodified v0.33 Garmin driver.

2. Pertinent info from /proc/bus/usb/devices:

T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=02 Dev#= 3 Spd=480 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=091e ProdID=239c Rev= 5.09
S: SerialNumber=0000da32c553
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr=500mA
I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=08(stor.) Sub=06 Prot=50 Driver=usb-storage
E: Ad=83(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 512 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=01(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 512 Ivl=0ms

Notice usbstorage works just fine.

Is that the full entry? According to this, you have a storage device and
only a storage device.

This is the only new chunk that shows up after usbserial and garmin-gps are loaded, but following is the entire output from /proc/bus/usb/devices. If the answer is "this will never work" or "you're doing it wrong" then that's cool, too. I thought all Garmin devices were sufficiently generic enough to use the usbserial driver to create /dev/ttyUSBx devices (as well as usbstorage to mount the volumes) but I may be wrong. If you're curious, my ultimate goal is to use this device with Garmin's Windows software through Wine. As it stands I have an entire Windows VirtualBox just for this purpose. Yuck.

Thanks again for any guidance (and patience!) or possibly verification that this device will not work this way.
