Sorry to be a pest, but I've just found something that might have a
bearing on my earlier question about flash drives and icon labels: I
just inserted a flash drive that I know has a label. After the icon
appeared on my desktop, I checked dmesg in a terminal. The messages
about the drive included the product name, which was used for the icon
label, but not the label for the partition. I don't know if this is
significant, but if so, it might explain why this happens on four
different computers. Two have different versions of Fedora, one has
Ubuntu and the last has Puppy. If there's someplace I can look (other
than using dosfslabel, that is.) to see if Linux is picking up the label
correctly, please point me in the right direction.
