problem with usb 1Tb hard drive (kernel 2.4)

Hello,
My name is Dennis, I'm a student from Russia, just started develop on
Linux. I'm not shure, that it's ok to post my question here, but I'll
try.
I use 2.4.21 kernel and have the next problem: when I connect my 1 Tb
usb hard-drive (Western Digital) the process stopps in message "SCSI
emulation for USB Mass Storage devices". Then bus is reset by
scsiglue.c.
I've tried the same hard drive on 2.6 kernel, and it worked good, but
I can't use that kernel.
So, may be someone could advise me, what code in 2.4 kernel I can
correct so, that my hard disk would work with this kernel good?
/proc/bus/usb/devices:

E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms

in proc/scsi there isfolder for this device (for example
usb-storage-0) and there is file in this folder, but it's empty.
If somebody would tell me, where is the problem and how can I fix it,
i would be very thankful.
Best regards,
Dennis V. Grafov
