Sorry, submitted the update too soon.  I meant to add:

Incidentally, the check for overlapping DMA mappings does not take into account
the possibility that a mapping can extend over several cache lines.  Maybe this
wasn't deemed important enough to check for.

But in any case, it seems clear that on x86 there shouldn't be anything wrong
with allowing several different mappings to refer to the same cache line.
