Comparison of the 2.6.30 and 2.6.31 versions shows several changes related to flow control. Most notable are the changes in ftdi_open() and ftdi_close(), together with the addition of a whole new ftdi_dtr_rts() routine. Probably one of these is responsible for the behavior you're seeing.
