Hey, I ran into some problems with a non-UAS USB3 SATA dock I've had for about a decade in that it simply refuses to work on my system's USB3 ports, constantly connecting and disconnecting. I used some 5.17, and some current git trunk kernels. It refuses to work in the USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.1 Gen 2 front ports on my system, but works correctly when plugged in through a USB 2 port at the back of my desktop. Dock identifies as "04c5:201d". The same dock/HDD combo also works correctly when plugged in to a MacBook Air running macOS. What info would I need to get to debug this issue? Cheers dmesg when plugged in the USB2 port (working): Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 10 using xhci_hcd Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=04c5, idProduct=201d, bcdDevice= 0.01 Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: usb 1-3: Product: MB86C30A-REB Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: usb 1-3: Manufacturer: FUJITSU Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: usb 1-3: SerialNumber: K62TT962G9AB Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: usb-storage 1-3:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected Apr 19 17:26:18 classic kernel: scsi host7: usb-storage 1-3:1.0 Apr 19 17:26:18 classic mtp-probe[43260]: checking bus 1, device 10: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-3" Apr 19 17:26:18 classic mtp-probe[43260]: bus: 1, device: 10 was not an MTP device Apr 19 17:26:18 classic mtp-probe[43263]: checking bus 1, device 10: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-3" Apr 19 17:26:18 classic mtp-probe[43263]: bus: 1, device: 10 was not an MTP device Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: scsi 7:0:0:0: Direct-Access FUJITSU MHZ2160BH G2 008B PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] 312581808 512-byte logical blocks: (160 GB/149 GiB) Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 17 00 00 08 Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] No Caching mode page found Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] Assuming drive cache: write through Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sda: sda1 Apr 19 17:26:19 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk *filesystem gets mounted and stays available from here on out* dmesg when plugged in the USB3 port (not working): Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: usb 2-4: new SuperSpeed USB device number 20 using xhci_hcd Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: usb 2-4: New USB device found, idVendor=04c5, idProduct=201d, bcdDevice= 0.01 Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: usb 2-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: usb 2-4: Product: MB86C30A-REB Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: usb 2-4: Manufacturer: FUJITSU Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: usb 2-4: SerialNumber: K62TT962G9AB Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: usb-storage 2-4:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected Apr 19 17:36:17 classic kernel: scsi host7: usb-storage 2-4:1.0 Apr 19 17:36:17 classic mtp-probe[44111]: checking bus 2, device 20: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb2/2-4" Apr 19 17:36:17 classic mtp-probe[44111]: bus: 2, device: 20 was not an MTP device Apr 19 17:36:17 classic mtp-probe[44114]: checking bus 2, device 20: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb2/2-4" Apr 19 17:36:17 classic mtp-probe[44114]: bus: 2, device: 20 was not an MTP device Apr 19 17:36:18 classic kernel: scsi 7:0:0:0: Direct-Access FUJITSU MHZ2160BH G2 008B PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 Apr 19 17:36:18 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 Apr 19 17:36:18 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] 312581808 512-byte logical blocks: (160 GB/149 GiB) Apr 19 17:36:18 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off Apr 19 17:36:18 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 17 00 00 08 Apr 19 17:36:18 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] No Caching mode page found Apr 19 17:36:18 classic kernel: sd 7:0:0:0: [sda] Assuming drive cache: write through Apr 19 17:36:19 classic kernel: usb 2-4: USB disconnect, device number 20 Apr 19 17:36:19 classic kernel: xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: WARN Set TR Deq Ptr cmd failed due to incorrect slot or ep state.
