I have been unable to reproduce this issue with the patched kernel! Thanks so much for the quick turn around on this.

FYI, I have found another interesting bug in the testing of this bug. I haven't narrowed it down to a kernel or hal issue yet, but occasionally the storage.bus property of the usb flash drive is reported as 'pci' instead of 'usb' as it should be.

We use the earliest device bus events to provide user feedback that something has been plugged in, but now the various device counts get off because a particular device may get a usb bus device insert event, but a pci bus device removal event. Once I narrow it down, I'll open another issue in the appropriate place.
