Summary: ehci_hcd module causing problems in using usb head
                    phone

when ehci_hcd module is loaded, and I try to play or record using usb head
phone
keyboard and mouse stops working that freezes the system.

kernel throws the error
cannot submit datapipe for urb 0, error -28

Error -28 means that there is not enough bandwidth available on the USB bus.

What does the dmesg log say?

Alan Stern

The dmesg log when capturing audio through the headphone is

cannot submit datapipe for urb 0, error -28: not enough bandwidth

The dmesg log when playing audio through the headphone is

hub 1-0:1.0: resubmit --> -108

hub 1-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -108)

hub 1-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -108)

hub 1-0:1.0: hub_hub_status failed (err = -108)

hub 1-0:1.0: get_hub_status failed

On command prompt once it gave the error
PS3YDL Kernel : Disabling IRQ#50
And after that mouse and keyboard stopped working.

When I remove the ehci_hcd module using command rmmod
then USB headphone works fine .

This USB headphone is a full speed device , so even when ehci_hcd module is there this device should be
handled by the companion driver that is UHCI or OHCI.

Abhishek Kumar
