It makes a slight difference - to the wrong direction.
A snippet from the beginning of capture (before cold boot):

Feb 22 14:24:48 halley [77150.436087] ALSA
sound/usb/usx2y/usb_stream.c:61: idle=-18 ul=1518 ps=1536
Feb 22 14:24:48 halley [77150.436564] ALSA
sound/usb/usx2y/usb_stream.c:61: idle=0 ul=1554 ps=1536
Feb 22 14:24:48 halley [77150.436579] ALSA
sound/usb/usx2y/usb_stream.c:718: 4 322
Feb 22 14:24:48 halley [77150.436582] ALSA
sound/usb/usx2y/usb_stream.c:742: 1
Feb 22 14:24:48 halley [77150.452420] i_capture_start:632: 0 0 30 36
30 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30
0 36 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30 0 30
Feb 22 14:24:48 halley [77150.452434] ALSA
sound/usb/usx2y/usb_stream.c:61: idle=-12 ul=1524 ps=1536

So it looks like we're getting even less correct data.

In addition I tried out of curiosity thresholds 2 and 4. 2 gives
somewhat similar results as 3, but 4 gives nothing but zeros.

-> reboot

And to make things even more puzzling, after cold boot and changing
the threshold to 3 plugging in the Tascam gives about 8 lines with
non-zero data. After unplugging and replugging I get only 2 lines
before getting 0 as every second value.

BR,
Timo
