Problems with Logitech MX3200 desktop

Hi all,

I've been having some - weird - problems with my Logitech MX3200
desktop (MX3200 keyboard + MX600 cordless laser mouse). They seem to
work OK at first but after a while the mouse stops working at all and
the keyboard looses all the extra keys (media keys).
At this point I can plug in another USB mouse and continue using the
PC. But if I try to unplug-replug the new mouse or unplug-replug the
MX3200 receiver I loose everything.Bottomline, once the logitech mouse
stops working I get one extra plug-unplug and after that nothing...
Also the time interval between boot and mouse black out is quite
unpredictable... Once, I was able to work for two days without any
problems but some times it happens before I can even login (seconds
after X loads).
I've checked /var/log/messages right after the mouse stops but there
are no messages...
I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware problem... since my linux box is
quite unusable I've been using MX3200 with a MacBook seamlessly for a
couple of months now.

OS: openSuSE 11.1
Kernel: 2.6.28 (vanilla) [but the problem also exists with vanilla
2.6.27 and openSuSE's 2.6.27]
MoBo: ASUS M3N78

A couple of thoughts (that might be irrelevant...):

- The vendor/product ID [0x046d / 0xc517] is stored in hid-ids.h as
USB_DEVICE_ID_S510_RECEIVER_2 (OK, they might be using the same
receiver...)
- During boot I get a message "Fixing Logitech keyboard descriptor"
but this message is printed from the device corresponding to the mouse
(see below)

input: Logitech USB Receiver as
/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/usb1/1-4/1-4:1.0/input/input4
logitech 0003:046D:C517.0001: input,hidraw1: USB HID v1.10 Keyboard
[Logitech USB Receiver] on usb-0000:00:02.0-4/input0
logitech 0003:046D:C517.0002: fixing up Logitech keyboard report descriptor
input: Logitech USB Receiver as
/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/usb1/1-4/1-4:1.1/input/input5
logitech 0003:046D:C517.0002: input,hiddev96,hidraw2: USB HID v1.10
Mouse [Logitech USB Receiver] on usb-0000:00:02.0-4/input1

I can provide the USB Snoopy output from the moment I plug-in the
receiver if anyone thinks that it might help...

In any case, any help would be appreciable.
Thanks in advance,

Tom.
