Meanwhile I just discovered another issue... I think this is the root cause...

If I compile the kernel without CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS it does not work
for the device.

Shouldn't the CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS not affect the handling of the device?
I mean shouldn't we stop using CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS and use udev
thesedays? without any loss of functionality?
