I did another test. I was running Linux on a virtual machine (VMware 
Workstation 11) on my work computer where I got the error. Unfortunately I 
don't have a native Linux installation on this computer. I've tested it on my 
notebook which runs Linux natively and the adapter seems to be running fine 
there. So perhaps this error was caused because of the virtual machine.
