Hi,

Gives me the following in the syslog when I attach a Huawei E173 3G USB
modem to my computer. I don't know if it's relevant but the modem
supports storage though there is no SD card inserted in it.

Nov 18 08:07:43 Firen4ALL kernel: [70171.770676] usb 1-1.2: new
high-speed USB device number 11 using ehci-pci
Nov 18 08:07:43 Firen4ALL kernel: [70171.865310] usb 1-1.2: New USB
device found, idVendor=12d1, idProduct=1446

12d1:1446 is the usb id of a dongle in Windows install mode (virtual cd-rom) where it only has interfaces of storage type, forcing the usbserial driver
onto such interfaces will produce the errors you see in the log.
Install usb_modeswitch which will switch the dongle to modem mode and make sure you have the serial driver named "option" in your system.
