Hi,
I am not familiar with git or code writting, I have no idea where to start.

You installed your own kernels from kernel.org, right?

FTP'd the gz file, I extract, copy .config from previous src directory, run make oldconfig, run make menuconfig.. check stuff, rarely need to change anything... then make all and all the make installs, there is no git installed or involved.

oh well, guess need to wait until the masses graduate to 3.14 and see the problems I do and it bites someone who knows how to nut this out, thanks anyway

If so, you have git, and you can read the documentation on 'git bisect'
for how to do this (there's a tutorial somewhere around here on it...)

Otherwise, if you aren't installing your own kernels, and using a distro
kernel, can you just report it to them so they can help track down the
issue?

thanks,
