In the first one, the device was in a weird state, where it wouldn't transfer data over the bulk endpoints, and resetting it didn't help. In the second file, the device spontaneously got disconnected shortly after it was plugged in, but it started working correctly after a few resets. Your problems were probably caused by those spontaneous disconnects. They could be caused by a small electrical incompatibility between the computer and the device.
