As long as the camera is busy in PTP mode, it stays on (e.g. fetching previews from shotwell), but when this is done with many images on the camera (over a couple of tens or hundreds), the camera shuts down right after command completion and before the import process can be started. > What happens if you start to use the camera before the 30 seconds is up > by looking at the filesystem and/or mounting it? The problem seems not to happen in mass storage mode (e.g. when mounted by nautilus/gvfs).
