If I recall correctly, IOGear has used multiple chipset vendors across different products. Do you have a link to the product page for the device? Another possiblity is that the HWA is in DFU mode and it will need a firmware image downloaded before it will function properly. I am actually working on a user service to download firmware images for devices based on the Alereon chipset but I don't have an estimate on the completion date.
