Yes, I think it could be useful to support other ways for host-guest
communication, not only vsock. The API should be changed to accept
parameters depending on the selected communication type, maybe some
union instead of that cid and port. But for now it is a private API,
used only by trace-cmd. It is not officially exposed in the library
header file and there is no man page describing it.

That die() is in the trace-cmd application context, not in the
library. But there are still forgotten die()'s in the trace-cmd
library, in a code not related to these changes. I'll remove them in a
