Somehow I am not able to set up a tape by hand (i.e. compared to using
/etc/tgt/targets.conf).
First I setup the target (using the shortcut options, e.g -t etc):
tgtadm -L iscsi -m target -o new -t 1 -T iqn.2008-09.com.example:server.tape
So far so good.
Now I add a tape unit:
tgtadm -L iscsi -m logicalunit -o new -t 1 -l 1 -b /root/tapes/notape -Y tape
(where notape is just an empty file)
I get the respone:
tgtadm: invalid request
When I remove the -Y tape option, it works but I get the standard type
of disk.
I managed to get it working. The backing store has to be a tgtimg created and formatted file.
I guess a much more helpfull error would be better, anyway it works now.
