Please copy driver authors when mailing about problems, in this case
that includes both the EEPROM and the SPI controller driver authors...
I just took a look at the set of changes between v4.1.7 and v4.1.17 and
can't see any non-documentation changes in either the core or the i.MX
driver so it looks like something outside SPI.
