Craig, as you are using debian and not ubuntu, you probably need to enable
the nonfree repos.
in your /etc/apt/sources.list, you have lines that look like this:
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian jessie main contrib
add non-free to the end of this line.
be sure to add it to the updates line as well.
then apt-get update
then search for the non-free firmware and install it.
