Sorry, still the same. speakup-r skips some characters and randomly changes the tone setting. I can echo the correct setting back, but speakup-r will randomly change it again. Its a show stopper for me as I use the read-all feature all the time to read long documents. I was using your README file to test. I am trying this under kernel 4.4.22 if that makes any difference.
