Hi John and others, I believe this could be slightly dated, do you still have to do a modprobe speakup_soft, followed by running espeakup to start software speech in the latest grml? They encourage people to build their own disks and include a tool for doing that. I think the tool is called grml-live or something like that. You can google that. But in my job as the manager of the high performance clusters at the University of Wisconsin Math department, I always just use generic grml. I have not found it necessary to modify it.
