I figured this gentleman could use a quick attempt at a fix. The patches are at the below URL. http://the-brannons.com/speakup-patches.tar.gz allancox.patch and locking.patch are patches by different folks for the same issue. Either of these patches _should deal with your issue. The speakup repo is at: http://www.linux-speakup.org/speakup.git The speakup code is included in 3.4 kernels, but apparently the keypad bug patch hasn't been applied to some versions... As I recall, from your kernel dir, git apply --check /directory_to_patches/locking.patch should apply the keypad fix to your kernel, which you will then need to rebuild.
