Virtualbox and Windows

Hmm. I had the oposite experience. VirtualBox actually worked better than VMWare when I tried them both, but that was about 2 to 3 years ago, so much has likely changed. However, the fact remains that I prefer to work with as little proprietary software as possible, from the host and guest OS's all the way down to the virtualization, which makes the open source components of VirtualBox, KVM and Qemu the best options for my immediate fiddlings, especially if I can get hardware virtualization working on the motherboard I will be purchasing without too much difficulty.
