really have to do is a recompile of your kernel substituting scsi cdrom
drivers and scsi emulation instead of using the ide atapi cdrom standard.
If you remove that and add those two options in to the kernel you'll also
need to chand any /dev/cdrom links to point to /dev/scdxx or whatever.
Can't address your drives by /dev/hdc or hdd anymore.
All/dev/scd0 scd1 at this point.
