Hi Yasr doesn't need to be ported, it already works on FreeBSD. However, it's been unmaintained for so long that it doesn't work very well on any platform. It doesn't need any porting, but it does need someone to maintain it regularly. Anyone know where to get the latest yasr code base (not the 0.6.9 version on sf, but that which used to be maintained on sourceforge's cvs servers)? It doesn't seem to have made it over to sf's svn or git. I don't know kernel stuff, but I feel like a bit of a challenge and would be willing to take on yasr if someone who knows it better isn't interested in doing it. A good user-space screen reader is something we need at the moment.
