Loosing speech when there is too much data

Hi list:

I've been playing around with the Debian Squeze snapshot from a couple weeks
ago which includes Speakup.

I'm using a Doubletalk on ttyS0.

When the system speaks too much, it seems like the synth stops responding.
I have to be careful not to run certain commands that produce n abundance of
speech, such as looking at the installation messages as they go by. If I do
not press ctrl or Numpad Enter quickly enough, the speech stops and no
longer responds. The system seems to still work.

Is their some parameter I need to pass to the kernel or some command I can
use to bring speech back?

I do have some other issues with Debian, so, I may consider converting to
arch if some of my other issues are addressed.

Any thoughts/

Thanks!
