I did that and it did not come up talking and when I tried to echo ltlk to the /sys/accessibility/speakup/synth file it said no such device or something similar. I will try again and see what shows up in the syslog. I should've checked but didn't. I may still have the entry from the first time if my logs haven't rotated yet.
