No sound with espeakup-i386.iso

It seems that the default alsa driver sound level is unfortunately 0.
William, we need to make something about this in espeakup. Testing it is
simple: on a standard linux system with speakup, set the alsa main
volume to zero, then start espeakup, no sound. The "espeak" volume is
only for its generated wave, it doesn't have any effect on the actual
alsa volume parameter...
