Hmmm, good point, I forgot that. I seem to recall a few years ago
trying just that (starting a kernel with console=ttyUSB0 as a boot
param), and recall I got nothing out of the usb serial port. The
converter I have is rather old, a Belkin f5u103, using the
belkin_sa.ko module. I'll give that a try again though, since when I
tried it before, I just wanted to see if it would work, and wasn't
serious about trying to get it to work when it didn't on the first
boot. Thanks for reminding me of that possibility.
