rfc: /dev/softsynth permissions

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

All,

currently the /dev/softsynth device in speakup has permissions 660.

With the way opentts/speech-dispatcher and ospeakup are moving, it would
work better for them if this device had permissions of 666 (world
readable/writable).

I saw that on my system there are some devices which are set up that
way, so I am wondering if we can do it with softsynth. Would there be
any security issues? Does anyone know of any linux kernel policies that
would not allow it?

Thanks,

William
